What We Do

Our afterschool program at Nitasimama Foundation is designed to provide students with the academic support and mentorship they need to thrive. We understand that every child learns differently, which is why we offer personalized help tailored to each student’s unique needs. From homework assistance to one-on-one tutoring, our dedicated team works closely with students to strengthen their understanding of key subjects. By creating a safe and nurturing environment, we give children the space and encouragement they need to grow both academically and personally.

Beyond academics, our program fosters confidence and a love for learning through engaging activities that stimulate curiosity and critical thinking. Children participate in fun, hands-on learning experiences that not only reinforce classroom knowledge but also build essential life skills. Our mentors serve as positive role models, offering guidance and encouragement that helps students navigate challenges and stay motivated. Through this holistic approach, we empower children to believe in themselves and achieve their full potential.

We empower families—especially women—through skill-building and self-sufficiency. Our empowerment program includes:

• Sewing classes and adult education

• Small business support

• Budgeting and financial literacy workshops

These opportunities allow families to become economically independent and provide for their children with dignity.

We understand that healing goes beyond physical needs. Our mental health program offers emotional and psychological support to both children and adults through group sessions, one-on-one counseling, and community outreach. We create safe spaces for healing, growth, and resilience.

Our signature Nitasimama Benefit Program ensures that no child goes hungry or lacks the essentials to succeed. Each child at Nitasimama Foundation receives a hot meal every day, helping them stay healthy and focused. We also provide:

• Clothing and school supplies to support their education journey• Weekly food packages for families, ensuring their households are nourished• Feminine hygiene products to support the dignity and health of the women we serve
